A 70s kitchen renovation

Sam and Shelley Hamersley’s kitchen was built in the 70’s with wood panelling creating a dark closed-in feel. Their kitchen was past its use-by date and wasn’t meeting the storage needs of their growing family. They approached Access Cabinets looking to upgrade their kitchen.

Dan from Access Cabinets visited the Hamersley’s home to provide a free site measure and quote. Dan talked at length with Sam and Shelley about the way they use their kitchen space and their wants and needs for the new kitchen. Sam and Shelley previously had plans drawn up for their kitchen upgrade, and Dan was able to incorporate these plans with new design ideas to suit the Hamersley’s needs. Together they created a modern kitchen design that was a light, breezy and open with lots of storage using draws and overhead cupboards wherever possible.

Quote accepted

The Hamersleys accepted Access Cabinets quote for their kitchen re-build and once the wall and old kitchen was removed, we cut out full size templates of the new kitchen. Full size templates are 1D cutouts of your kitchen which give you an idea of the structure and flow of your new kitchen. Dan took the templates to Sam and Shelley's house and placed them on the floor in the empty kitchen space to check the design fit. Any necessary changes were discussed and incorporated into the template design.

Sam and Shelley then visited Access Cabinets showroom in Bayswater to choose their colours and handles. At this stage the Hamersley's new appliances (dishwasher, sink and oven etc) had been delivered to our workshop. This allowed us to fit their new appliances perfectly to their cabinets.

Cabinet construction begins

The Hamersley's cabinets were then constructed and set out in our workshop. Sam and Shelley visited our showroom again to inspect the cabinets and approve details like handle positions, bin location and other accessories.

After: A complete transformation!

Then the big day arrived! Install day is a culmination of many weeks of hard work and decisions on behalf of the Hamersleys and it is exciting for everyone to see the vision come to fruition. Their cabinets were transported to their home and our team of qualified cabinetmakers ensured install was completed in one day.

Finishing touches

Of course there are still many finishing touches to make to the cabinets once they are installed. The Access Cabinets team liaised with other trades such as plumbers and electricians, benchtop manufacturers and splashback companies to ensure the kitchen was finished smoothly.

I think you’ll agree that this is a pretty amazing transformation! Sam and Shelley are very happy with their new cabinets and we wish them and their family many happy times in their new kitchen.

We were so pleased with what Access Cabinets had built for us that we decided to use them again. They provided a clean, punctual, friendly and professional service and really listened to everything we wanted, nothing was too hard for them. I would recommend them to anyone.

The care taken with installation down to the last finishing polish was second to none and the quality of the fixings are superb.  Thank you for two lovely and treasured items of furniture which have generated much admiration from family and friends.

Recently we had some lounge room cupboards made by Access Cabinets and found their service to be prompt and reliable. The cupboards themselves look great in place and we are very pleased with their overall finish.
